America Can’t Afford Keever’s Irresponsible Spending

Oct 29

Gastonia, NC – In the wake of yet another poor economic performance report, Congressman Patrick McHenry released the following statement criticizing Representative Patsy Keever’s plan to continue the irresponsible spending that has pushed the national debt to over $16 trillion under President Obama:

“Elected officials have a duty to act responsibly with the American people’s tax dollars. That’s why I’ve voted time and again to cut spending and balance the budget. My opponent disagrees. When she voted against the state budget in 2011, she voted against reducing wasteful spending and closing the three billion dollar shortfall facing the state of North Carolina. Not only that, she voted against tax relief for small businesses and hard-working North Carolinians. Now she says that she supports President Obama’s so-called stimulus program and wants it to go even further. That’s just plain irresponsible. America can’t afford to continue borrowing money from countries like China to pay for the Keever-Obama wasteful spending spree.”

In an interview with Mountain Xpress reporter Jake Frankel in April, Representative Keever spoke about her plan to support President Obama’s record of wasteful spending, signaling no plan to end the trillion dollar deficits that have been a hallmark of President Obama’s term:

“The federal stimulus has made a huge difference…I would love to see us do more stimulus if we can.” – Representative Patsy Keever, Mountain Xpress, 4/26/2012
